Lawyers from Sher Tremonte LLP moved on September 14 to withdraw as counsel for Sean Combs in his federal defamation lawsuit against Nexstar Media, Courtney Burgess and Ariel Mitchell. The motion cited unpaid legal fees and a breakdown in the attorney-client relationship, according to the court filings and subsequent reporting.
At a September 17 conference, the federal judge directed Combs’ counsel to provide a status letter by October 19 addressing whether Combs plans to proceed without counsel or retain replacement lawyers. The court also postponed deadlines for briefing and responses in the underlying civil case while the representation issue is addressed.
