FKA twigs and Shia LaBeouf have resolved the Los Angeles legal fight over confidentiality provisions in their 2025 settlement agreement, with the singer’s attorney saying the disputed nondisclosure terms have been voided.
Tahliah Barnett, the Grammy-winning artist known as FKA twigs, filed a notice of settlement in Los Angeles County Superior Court on October 5 and asked the court the next day to dismiss her March lawsuit against LaBeouf with prejudice, according to court filings reported by the Los Angeles Times and Rolling Stone. The filing states that LaBeouf agreed the nondisclosure provisions in the parties’ 2025 settlement are “terminated and void.”
Barnett’s March complaint challenged the enforceability of the NDA after LaBeouf’s side alleged that comments she made in a 2025 interview violated the confidentiality terms. Barnett had argued that the provisions unlawfully restricted her ability to discuss her experiences and support survivor-focused causes. Her attorney, Mathew Rosengart, said the resolution leaves Barnett free to discuss her own experience and advocate for other women.
The dispute stemmed from Barnett’s earlier civil case against the actor, filed in Los Angeles in 2020. That lawsuit included allegations of sexual battery, assault and emotional abuse during their relationship. LaBeouf denied the allegations, and the parties reached a private settlement in 2025 before the case went to trial. The new agreement resolves the later dispute over speech restrictions; it is not a judicial finding on the underlying allegations.
LaBeouf attorney Shawn Holley told the Los Angeles Times that the actor wished Barnett well and had agreed to end the long-running dispute. The Times reported that the requested dismissal was filed with prejudice, meaning Barnett would not be able to bring this particular NDA action again. A request for dismissal is not the same as a merits ruling by the court.
