Prime Video has released the first full trailer for Blade Runner 2099, bringing viewers back to a radically changed Los Angeles. Unveiled at New York Comic Con on Saturday, October 10, 2026, the footage puts Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer at the center of a new mystery ahead of the limited series’ November 25 premiere.
The eight-episode production takes place 50 years after the events of Blade Runner 2049. Schafer plays Cora, a fugitive who adopts the identity of a Blade Runner, while Yeoh portrays Olwen, a Replicant approaching the end of her life. Their uneasy partnership leads to a pursuit of a runaway who is hiding a secret that could destabilize the city, according to Variety’s October 11 report.
A New Power Structure in Los Angeles
In this version of Los Angeles, the balance between humans and Replicants has shifted. Showrunner Silka Luisa explained during the convention presentation that a Replicant uprising has taken place since the earlier films, leaving humanity on the losing side. As Ars Technica reported October 11, the series expands the franchise’s familiar questions about identity, mortality and artificial life into a broader question about the future of an entire species.
For a franchise so closely associated with the look and mythology of Los Angeles, that change is significant. The new series does not simply revisit the rain-soaked streets of the earlier films; it imagines a city rebuilt under a different social order, using a fictional future to explore who holds power and who gets to define humanity.
Release Date and Cast
The new full trailer follows a shorter first look shown at San Diego Comic-Con in July. Prime Video says all eight episodes will arrive together on November 25, 2026. The series also features Dimitri Abold, Lewis Gribben and Matthew Needham. Luisa is creator and showrunner, and original Blade Runner director Ridley Scott serves among the executive producers.
The New York Comic Con panel listing identifies the participating cast and producers. Viewers can watch the official Blade Runner 2099 NYCC trailer on Prime Video’s YouTube channel.
