Antonio Brown’s anticipated plea hearing in his Miami attempted murder case was postponed September 30, leaving the former NFL star’s criminal case unresolved. The hearing has been reset for October 28, according to The Associated Press and CBS Miami.
Brown appeared prepared to plead no contest to aggravated assault under a proposed agreement that his attorney, Mark Eiglarsh, said would result in probation rather than prison. But the judge postponed the proceeding because she was not ready to take up the proposed resolution. No plea was entered and no plea agreement has been accepted by the court.
Brown is charged in connection with a May 2025 shooting after a celebrity boxing event in Miami. Police previously identified Brown as the alleged shooter in a Miami Police Department release. Prosecutors allege he took a gun from a security staffer and fired at Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu after an earlier fight; AP reported that Nantambu said a bullet grazed his neck.
Brown has previously maintained that he acted in self-defense and said others had tried to steal his jewelry. His lawyer told reporters Brown hoped to resolve the case. Brown remains charged in the pending case and is presumed innocent unless guilt is established in court.
